STARBOY explores football as both a dream and an escape — often the only visible way out for young kids growing up with limited options.
For many, the European road to glory is sold as light, success, and glamour. The reality is colder. Harsher. Rarer.

At the center of the collection is the Cache-Cou (neck warmer) — a functional object commonly worn by stylish players during training, often pulled up like a beanie. I chose to focus on this single detail as a symbol: protection against the cold, but also against the shock of reality.

For many young African players arriving in Europe, cold is experienced for the first time — both physically and metaphorically.

The Cache-Cou is crafted from two layers of Japanese Polar Fleece, designed to shield and insulate. It features hand-stitched ornaments sourced between Paris and Geneva, an Italian leather tag, and multiple embroidered canvas labels — elements that speak to European craftsmanship and surface-level prestige.

Two versions exist:

• Team of the Year — adorned with Swarovski studs

• Golden Boy — finished with five removable brooches

The diamonds reference the statistic that defines the journey:
1 in 10,000 make it.

What glitters is not guaranteed success — it’s probability.
The studs symbolize both aspiration and rarity, highlighting how exceptional survival is in a system that promises much but delivers little.

STARBOY is not just an aesthetic piece.
It is a commentary on migration, sacrifice, illusion, and endurance.
A reflection on football as hope — and on Europe as a place where dreams shine, but reality often cuts deeper.
